The Appalachian Trail (AT) is the mecca of North American trails, commencing at Springer Mtn in Georgia travelling north 2200 m, 3500 km to Mount Katahdin in Maine. The trail passes through 14 states and Maine is said to be the most difficult. On a hot Sunday in September we hiked the Hunt Trail to the 5267 ft., 1605 m summit of Katahdin. .
