Start by washing your hands thoroughly with soap and water. 2. Next, clean your puppy’s ears with ear cleanser and cotton balls. Remove any dirt, wax, or debris inside the ear canal. 3. Once you have clean ears, use the surgical tape to attach the cotton rolls to the top of the ears. Ear cropping is a surgical procedure in which a portion of the dog’s ear is removed, producing a sharper and less heavy ear. The procedure is most often performed on European Doberman puppies as early as 6 weeks of age and as late as 12 weeks of age. The puppy is put under anesthesia while the ears are trimmed and the edges are stitched. Also when you put the post in, and then run your circles around the ear and the post, pull up a bit on the ear as you do it. When you put the tape on the ears should be (as you look from the front) at approx 11 o'clock and 1 o'clock, not straight up.
